Connect Kintsu to Cursor
Add the Kintsu MCP server to your mcp.json, so the Cursor agent works on your site.
Cursor is a code editor with an AI agent. With Kintsu added, the agent puts HTML and CSS from your project straight into your site. This is especially handy for designers.
Before you start
Who in Kintsu: any role. Cursor only does what your role allows. As a designer, you need two-step verification.
Kintsu plan: any plan.
You need: Cursor, installed.
Add Kintsu
Open the file mcp.json in the .cursor folder in your home folder (~/.cursor/mcp.json), or create it. Kintsu then works in all your projects. For one project only, use .cursor/mcp.json in that project folder.
Add the following:
{"mcpServers": {"kintsu": {"url": "https://mcp.kintsu.be"}}}
Already have other servers in the file? Then only add the line for kintsu inside mcpServers.
Save the file and restart Cursor.
Open Customize in the sidebar and click MCPs. Check that Kintsu is listed and turned on.
Cursor asks you to sign in. Your browser opens a Kintsu window. Sign in with your Kintsu account and click Allow on Give an assistant access.
In the Cursor chat, ask: “Which sites do I have in Kintsu?”
Did it work? The agent shows your organizations and your sites.
Disconnect
In Cursor: remove Kintsu under Customize, or take it out of your mcp.json. To turn it off temporarily, use the toggle under Customize.
In Kintsu: go to Account › Connected apps and click Take access back next to Cursor. Its next request is refused.
Not working?
Kintsu isn't in the list: check the text in mcp.json (quotes and braces) and restart Cursor.
Signing in fails, or you see “invalid_client”: remove Kintsu, restart Cursor and add it again.
Something else: see Troubleshooting the MCP.
With your AI assistant
“Which pages of my site in Kintsu are still in draft?”
As a designer: “Add the section from index.html as a new section on the home page of my site in Kintsu. Show me the report first.”
More ideas: Example requests for your assistant. Cursor's official guide: Model Context Protocol (MCP).
