Connect Kintsu to Claude
Add Kintsu as a connector in Claude on the web or in Claude Desktop. Claude then reads and changes your site, with your permissions.
Here's how to add Kintsu as a connector in Claude. It takes a few minutes. The connector belongs to your Claude account: add it once, and it works on claude.ai and in Claude Desktop.
Before you start
Who in Kintsu: any role. Claude only does what your role allows.
Kintsu plan: any plan.
Claude: Free, Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise. On Free, you can have at most one custom connector.
Team or Enterprise: only an owner of your Claude organization can add the connector. Each member then connects for themselves.
Add the connector (Free, Pro or Max)
In Claude, go to Customize › Connectors.
Click + Add and choose Add custom connector.
Enter Kintsu as the name.
Enter https://mcp.kintsu.be as the server address and click Continue.
Keep the suggested settings: Sign in now under Authentication, Use Claude's published identity (Recommended) under OAuth client. Click Add.
A Kintsu window opens. If it doesn't, click Connect next to Kintsu. Sign in with your Kintsu account.
You'll see Give an assistant access. Check that the request comes from Claude and click Allow.
Do you see a name, an address and Advanced settings on a single screen? Then only enter the name and the address. Kintsu doesn't need a client ID or secret: leave Advanced settings empty.
Add the connector (Team or Enterprise)
As an owner in Claude:
Go to Organization settings › Connectors.
Click Add, hover over Custom and choose Web.
Enter Kintsu as the name and https://mcp.kintsu.be as the address. Keep the suggested settings and click Add.
As a member:
Go to Customize › Connectors.
Find Kintsu, with the Custom label.
Click Connect, sign in to Kintsu and click Allow.
Use Kintsu in a chat
In a chat, click + at the bottom left and choose Connectors.
Turn Kintsu on.
Ask: “Which sites do I have in Kintsu?”
Did it work? Claude shows your organizations and your sites.
Tip: Claude asks for your permission before it uses a Kintsu tool. Only choose Allow always for tools that read. To stop Claude from ever using a tool, set it to Blocked: go to Customize › Connectors and choose Kintsu.
Claude Desktop
In Claude Desktop, you follow the same steps in the app. A connector runs through your Claude account, so whatever you add on claude.ai also appears in Claude Desktop. You don't need the Claude Desktop configuration file: that's only for servers on your own computer.
Disconnect
In Claude: go to Customize › Connectors, click Remove or the three dots next to Kintsu, and follow the steps. An owner does this for the whole organization under Organization settings › Connectors.
In Kintsu: go to Account › Connected apps and click Take access back next to Claude. Its next request is refused.
It's best to do both.
Not working?
You don't see Add custom connector: with Team or Enterprise, an owner adds the connector.
You're on Free and already have a custom connector: remove it first.
Claude doesn't use Kintsu: turn Kintsu on in the chat and mention it in your request.
Something else: see Troubleshooting the MCP.
With your AI assistant
Once connected, ask: “Who am I in Kintsu, and which sites do I have?” You'll find more ideas in Example requests for your assistant.
