Connect Kintsu to Claude Code
Add the Kintsu MCP server to Claude Code with one command in your terminal, then sign in in your browser.
With Claude Code, you work on your site from your terminal or your editor. Handy for designers and developers: Claude Code puts HTML and CSS from your project straight into Kintsu.
Before you start
Who in Kintsu: any role. Claude Code only does what your role allows. As a designer, you need two-step verification.
Kintsu plan: any plan.
You need: Claude Code, installed and signed in.
Add Kintsu
Run this command in your terminal:
claude mcp add --transport http kintsu --scope user https://mcp.kintsu.be
With --scope user, Kintsu works in all your projects. Leave it out and it only works in the current project. With --scope project, you share it with your team, through the .mcp.json file in your project.
Start Claude Code and type:
/mcp
Choose kintsu and follow the steps to sign in. Your browser opens a Kintsu window. Prefer not to use the menu? This command in your terminal does the same:
claude mcp login kintsu
Sign in with your Kintsu account. You'll see Give an assistant access. Click Allow.
Go back to Claude Code and ask: “Which sites do I have in Kintsu?”
Did it work? Claude Code shows your organizations and your sites. You can also check with this command:
claude mcp list
Kintsu is listed as “Connected”. If it says “Needs authentication”, sign in as in steps 2 and 3.
Good to know: if you already added Kintsu as a connector on claude.ai, Claude Code loads that connector automatically when you sign in with the same account. Don't add Kintsu a second time.
Sign out and remove
Sign out. This also revokes the access in Kintsu. In /mcp, choose Clear authentication for kintsu, or run:
claude mcp logout kintsu
Remove the server:
claude mcp remove kintsu
If you only remove the server, Claude Code deletes the keys on your computer, but the access in Kintsu remains. Revoke it under Account › Connected apps with Take access back.
Not working?
“invalid_client” or “Client not found”: in /mcp, choose Clear authentication and sign in again. If that doesn't help, remove Kintsu and add it again.
“Failed to connect”: check the address (https://mcp.kintsu.be) and your network.
Something else: see Troubleshooting the MCP.
With your AI assistant
“Which pages of my site in Kintsu are missing a description for Google?”
As a designer: “Import the hero from this project as a section on the home page of my site in Kintsu. Show me the report first.”
